“Welcome to grade one
where learning is fun!”
It is my goal to create a differentiated learning environment to help all diverse learners use all their multiple intelligences. Grade One is a special grade where students will grow socially, physically, spiritually, and emotionally. During grade one it is important that students learn good working habits. Teamwork is very important. Students will also face new challenges and learn new skills. I hope my classroom is a comfortable, happy place where students look forward to coming!
Classroom subjects consist of Religion, Reading, Writing, Spelling, Phonics, Math, Science, & Social Studies.
Helpful Hints for Parents:
Please make sure your child gets plenty of rest and has a good breakfast! This will ensure you that your child will be able to work to his/her own potential everyday in the classroom.
Have your child bring a snack everyday along with a lunch, which is $2.00 or lunch money in a zip lock baggie with their name on it. If you choose to buy milk it is $O.50. No drinks are allowed at snack time.
Encourage your child to work to their full potential.
Praise your child for doing well and working to the best of their ability. Check over your child’s work packets. Go over any mistakes with them. Finish anything marked “Finish.”
Read and write with your child each night. Please practice reading notebook. This reinforces what we are learning in school. Practice tying shoes!
First grade is so excited to be reading mini books. We are currently working on long vowels. We’re learning all about our president, The Statue of Liberty, The White House and more. In addition, geometry and learning about time is fun in math.
