Summer Reading 2010
Entering Grade 6:

Over the summer, all students entering grade six must read THREE books.  In September, you will be tested on the books you have read.  Be sure to read each book carefully and be able to explain the characters and the events of the plot.  We will be completing activities to coincide with the books upon our return to school.

Every student must read the following:

Bud, Not Buddy by: Christopher Paul Curtis

Project Mulberry by: Linda Sue Park

You may choose one (1) of the following for your third book:

A Week in the Woods by: Andrew Clements

The Wanderer by: Sharon Creech

The Sign of the Beaver by: Sharon Creech

Along with reading your second choice you must complete the following assignment:

Interview:  Answer the following interview questions in the voice of the main character. Your answers should be written or typed in complete sentences, with detail. (as much as you can recall!)

1. What three words best describe you and why? (Be sure to give examples)

2. Describe your family. Who do you get along best with?

3. Tell us where you grew up and what your childhood was like.

4. What is the biggest problem you have ever faced?

5. How did you overcome the problem?

6. What is the greatest lesson you have ever learned?

7. Who is your best friend and why?

8. Talk about a major event in your life and how it has affected you.

9. If you could change one thing about your life, what would it be and why?

10. Where do you see yourself in ten years?
