March, 2009
Dear Parents/Guardians,
I want to thank you for your generosity in helping our school raise $1,100 for the Leukemia Foundation. Your support, during these difficult economic times, is truly appreciated. St. Anthony’s is very lucky to have such a caring community.
Ms. Antall’s and Mrs. Palladino’s classes collected the most money; each class will get a free pizza party.
Registration – It has ended for students currently enrolled in our school. Registrations for the 2009-2010 academic year are now being accepted for new students. Please contact the office if you have not re-registered your child/ren yet. Some grades have a waiting list and, depending on the enrolment, will be kept to a single class due to the limited space available.
Report Cards – Marks for the second trimester will close on Wednesday, March 4; report cards will be sent home March 11. If you have any concerns about your child’s academic performance, please set up an appointment to speak to your child’s teacher.
Please keep in mind that if a student gets three detentions because of behavioral issues, s/he will not make the honor roll, regardless of grades received.
First Communion Meeting – There will be one meeting for our second grade parents whose children will be receiving the sacrament; it has been scheduled for Wednesday, March 4, at 7:30 p.m., in the rectory hall. Meetings are mandatory.
Tuition Contracts/FACTS – They had to be returned to school by Friday, February 27. If you have not sent yours in yet, please do so right away. Preschool payments are not part of the contract program; they are paid directly to the school.
FACTS agreements for the 2009-2010 school year are due no later than Friday, March 13. Please keep in mind that if more than one parent is making payments through FACTS, a $35 fee will be collected from each responsible party. Financial forms are due back April 3.
First Friday Mass – It will take place on March 6, at 8:30 a.m. Students in grade 3A will be preparing the liturgy. Everyone is invited to attend.
Early Dismissal - On Friday, March 6, students will be dismissed at 11:30 am. Children who are not picked up on time will be placed in the After School Program.
Aqua Days – Representatives from the New England Aquarium will be visiting St. Anthony School to present three special programs:
March 13 – “Tide Pool” Grades K - 2
March 18 – “Go Fish” Grades 3 - 5
March 20 – “Squids” Grades 6 - 8
The programs are designed to be fun and educational. Students will have the opportunity to take part in various hands-on activities and see up close various aquatic creatures.
The PTO is sponsoring one of the programs. However, to help defray part of the cost for the other two, we will be having a special “AQUANUT Day” on Wednesday, March 11. The cost is $3.00 per student; blue colors are encouraged to reflect the programs’ theme.
ST. PATRICK’S DAY – We will have a N.U.T. Day on Tuesday, March 17 to celebrate the Feast of St. Patrick. Students are encouraged to wear green; the cost is $1.00 per student.
May this Lenten season bring us the blessing of God’s forgiveness.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Maria Giggie
Principal
